Middleton to run for Garcia's House seat in 2008
October 3, 2007

State Board of Education member Karen Middleton announced this week she would run for the House District 42 seat next year.
Middleton, a Democrat, hopes to replace state Rep. Michael Garcia, D-Aurora, who is term-limited.
"This is a unique opportunity for me to continue my efforts to improve education for our children while making sure that we find solutions to other key issues, such as supporting Aurora's economy and ensuring our citizens can access the health care they need," said Middleton, who is serving her second term on the education board.
Middleton is the vice president of sales and development for ScholarCentric, a Denver-based education publishing company, and has worked as an adjunct instructor at the Community College of Aurora. She and her husband, Aurora Councilman Larry Beer, live in Aurora's Park East neighborhood.
